Redundancies

Here is a short webinar detailing the ten key things to consider when making redundancies:

Organisational structures evolve over time and sometimes restructuring results in proposed redundancies. Making redundancies should be managed with care as staff with over two years’ service are eligible to claim unfair dismissal. Similarly, all staff have the right not to be discriminated against. Employees realise that organisations may need to make redundancies from time to time. However the way in which these are handled can have a huge impact on their morale and goodwill on leaving an organisation and potentially becoming clients or referees.

Your HR Partner can assist with designing the right organisational structure and managing a Consultation process with staff. The process involves:

  • Discussing the organisational rationale for the restructure
  • Consulting with affected staff (we prepare meeting agendas and letters)
  • Agreeing selection criteria if applicable
  • Confirming redundancies
